The Meaning of Redemption This week’s image on the Grace Wheel is Redemption. Redemption means deliverance or freedom secured from some evil by payment of a price. God loves us, cherishes us, values us so much that Jesus was willing to sacrifice himself so that we would be redeemed from our slavery to sin.
Read John 8:34-36. Jesus teaches us that everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
Read Romans 7:14 - 8:17. Paul explains this concept even more.
The meaning of "salvation" The basic meaning of the word "save" in the Old Testament is to ‘bring into a spacious environment,' but it carries the metaphorical sense of ‘freedom from limitation’ i.e. deliverance from factors that constrain and confine.
Read Romans 3:19-26
Read Romans 8:9-17
ABOUT THE GRACE WHEEL (NOTE: Do this if your group would like to talk more about being more natural about sharing Jesus with others, turning the Gospel Dial, and applying the Grace Wheel. Look at the various images of God’s grace around the Grace Wheel, name each one, and ask, the questions... "Who needs this image the most? What kind of story would they have? How can we best portray this image to them?")
