Fusion Learning Experiences - Spring 2020

 
One of the things we do at Fusion is what we call “learning experiences” which are different activities or projects for students to consider participating that develop various life skills. Here are what learning experiences are being offered this next semester! All of these learning experiences take place or meets at Fusion, which is on Tuesdays from 3-5pm at First Covenant Church (near Twin Bluff Middle School).

Sports/Athletics

VOLLEYBALL MINI-CAMP

Dates: Jan 28, Feb 4, 11, 18
A 4-week camp where we’ll run some drills and then scrimmage a few games together. A great way to have some fun and stay in shape for the season.

BOWLING @ BIERSTUBE  {3 OPTIONS}
Leader: Melissa & Brandon Evans
Dates: (Pick 1) Feb 11, Mar 10, or Apr 28
This is an off-site field trip to Bierstube in Red Wing for an hour of bowling. Students are asked to bring $2 for shoes if able. Meet at the main entrance of Fusion at 3:15pm to leave for Bierstube. Will return around 4:45pm. Max capacity of 6 students per class and requires a transportation waiver (will be emailed to you at registration).

Art Classes

WATERCOLOR CLASS
Teacher: Anna Bechtold
Dates: Feb 18
Join us for this fun watercolor painting class. We will be working on a beautiful mountain sunset piece. Students will get to take home their project along with a paintbrush and palette. Max capacity of 8 students.

THE “ART” OF GIVING PROJECT
Teacher: Heidi Bacon
Dates: Mar 10
We are excited to have Heidi Bacon, founder of the Artist Sanctuary in Red Wing, who believes that everyone can learn the basic principles of creating, whether or not they have any experience or skill. In this project, students will work on 2 small paintings: one to keep and one to share; emphasizing the importance of giving to others.  Max capacity of 8 students.

STRING ART PROJECT
Teacher: Anna Ostendorf
Dates: Apr 21
We are excited to have Anna Ostendorf, instructor and Program Director with ArtReach in Red Wing, come and explore using a medium you might not normally use to create artwork with... string! Max capacity of 8 students.

Cooking Classes

BAKING CLASS  {2 OPTIONS}
Teacher: Gary Thomas
Dates: (Pick 1) Feb 4, 11 or Apr 21, 28
Learn how to bake in this 2-week class! Students will be instructed on the basic skills for baking. Join us for this delicious, hands on experience! Max capacity of 4 students per class.

COOKING CLASS

Learn to cook with 4H! From basic kitchen skills to preparation… you'll get to make some fun things and even prepare some others meals that you can take home to cook for your family! Max capacity of 8 students.

WOODWORKING CLASS
Teacher: Tom Zenzen
Dates: Apr 7
Participants will work with wood to assemble a picture frame kit. A simple way to learn how to use some basic shop class tools, the importance of directions, and a great idea for a gift! Max capacity of 8 students.

BABYSITTER TRAINING COURSE
Sponsored By: Goodhue County 4H
Dates: Mar 10, 17, 24, 31, Apr 7, 14
Ever thought about being a babysitter... perhaps as your first job? Learn about the basics, how to handle emergencies, and developing your "activity toolbox" in this 6 week 4H course. Those who attend and complete all six 1-hr sessions will receive an official babysitting certificate to prove that you've been trained!
